IMPLEMENTASI NILAI HAK ASASI MANUSIA DAN MULTIKULTURALISME TERHADAP KEUTUHAN BANGSA

Abstract

Indonesia as an archipelagic country rich in ethnic, cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity faces great challenges in maintaining social harmony, justice, and national stability. This research emphasizes that multicultural education is a strategic instrument in fostering tolerance, respect for differences, empathy, and awareness of Human Rights (HAM) in various educational environments. This study begins with an exploration of the concepts of multiculturalism and human rights, referring to the thinking of Uun Yusuf (2010) who places multicultural education as a response to social conflicts nuanced by SARA and human rights violations. Furthermore, this study examines the discourse of multicultural citizenship in the context of the state of law as described by Ahmad Muhamad Mustain Nasoha et al. (2025), which highlights the relationship between human rights protection, individual rights, and national interests. The urgency of multicultural education is emphasized through a study by Wahyuni Ramadani (2021) which revealed that the implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia has not been optimal. The study of Muslimin (2012) and Trully Rosalina Karundeng (2017) also showed the importance of the role of multicultural education in strengthening unity and protection of minority rights. Meanwhile, the prospects for the development of multicultural education are outlined by Slamet Panuntun and Asyrofi Aziz (2023), supported by the textbooks of Yan Dirk Wabiser and Willius Kogoya (2023) which provide an integrative foundation between human rights and multicultural education. The philosophical analysis of Ana Irhandayaningsih (2015) and the historical study of Luqman Kurniandrawan Nurhakim et al. (2025) enrich the understanding of the challenges of multiculturalism. In addition, the works of Fina Fandiyah et al. (2024) and Ilham Mundzir (2012) affirm the importance of the synergy of human rights, Islamic values, and the protection of minorities. Overall, this study emphasizes the need for a comprehensive and inclusive approach in upholding human rights and multiculturalism as pillars of the nation's integrity.
